6.3.2.1 Lithium-Ion Battery Charging Profile
The device charges a lithium based battery in four phases: trickle charge, precharge, constant current, and constant voltage. At the beginning of a charging cycle, the device checks the battery voltage and regulates current and voltage accordingly.
If the charger is in thermal regulation during charging, the actual charging current is less than the programmed value. In this case, termination is temporarily disabled and the charging safety timer is counted at half the clock rate. For more information, refer to Section 6.3.2.4.
